Beehive's Mission

The Bee Hive Community garden is an outreach mission of Government Street United Methodist Church.  It began when a small group of gardeners from the Church wanted to start a Community Garden in the back section of the empty lot the Church owns on the corner of Government and Marine Streets.  The lot is used for parking during Mardi Gras which raises funds for the Church but the rest of the year it is empty.  The Church Board granted permission to start a Community Garden in the Spring of 2012 and since then the garden has doubled its size and added space for fruit trees, blueberry bushes, grape vines, and a certified pollinator garden.  A shelter and well were added later along with irrigation lines. The garden is totally organic and is supported by several volunteers coordinated by lead gardener, Pat Hall.

Workdays are generally Thursday and Saturday mornings. Check the MUG Facebook page for schedules.
